In July 2014, five people from St. Barnabas journeyed to Cheyenne River, South Dakota, as pilgrims walking on holy ground. They went to give and receive generously, to understand and to learn. They listened to stories of new and old friends, and worked on a project at St. Peter's in Thunder Butte.  Through conversations over meals and work, and in the experience of being guests, they learned a small bit more about Native American (Lakota) history, culture, and spirituality.

This trip continued a relationship with Cheyenne River that Fr. Bob Trask, Priest Associate at St. Barnabas, has enjoyed since 2009. It is our hope and prayer that the relationship will continue. A group from our church will be traveling again in June 2016 to Cheyenne River. If you are interested in joining this group or finding out more about this trip please contact the church office.

Here you can read Fr. Bob's story of how his friendship with Cheyenne River began.
